Prairie Grass

I can't seem to make my mind up on this one. I was trying a cram shooting through the prairie grass to capture it's color while focusing on the flower. Actually I got exactly what I was going for, but I wonder if it works for others. Please tell me what you think.
Manual Exposure, 1/200, F5, ISO 400 (late evening), Canon 70-300mm. Adjusted some sat in RAW conversion.
Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.

John: This works for me. I especially like the painterly BG. Well seen and captured. :toast:

John,

My only problem with the shot is the violet vertical that blocks the view of the lower bloom. Aside from that, I like the image, particularly the color and the other verticals. If it were mine I'd probably try to clone it out.

John: My thoughts echo Pat. It would take some effort but I think this image is worthy of it. I especially like the color palette. Well done.>=))>

I like the streaks of colour. The one oof in the left is a bit distracting to me as well. but otherwise a very nice image.

Lovely, painterly effect, John, and great colours. There is a lot going on in the bg, and my thought is whether slightly less in focus would have helped ? Whatever, it's a very attractive image.

Man, I was going to say exactly what Gary said. It does work for me, too, as there is something about the background and blurred foreground that keeps me looking. The color is beautiful as well.

I echo the comments about the one obtrusive vertical stem, but the image really works. Its a rich complementary palette that really evokes the prairie
