This very small flower (something like 1 cm) belongs to the Grasslike Starwort (Stellaria graminea). The flower has five petals, each of which is deeply forked. The petals are also arranged like the five points of a star, therefore the name "Starwort". This plant is also known as the Lesser Stitchwort.

Thank you for looking.

Olympus E-3
Sigma 105 mm macro
1/160 sec @ f7.1
ISO 125
No flash, probably handheld

Very nice shot; light and details are ok. The texture on the petals is really fine. Maybe a less centered composition could work better IMHO. But it is quite nice as it is.

Hi Katja. I like what you have here. Very nice detail on the petals in the upper right side of the flower and I like the shadows of the anthers on the petals. Probably what I would try though is to get the anthers in better focus for more of an impact shot and leave the petals abit soft, or even increase your F number and try to get both the anthers and petals in focus. Just a thought though, very nice as is.

Katja: Nice image. I echo John's comment about getting the anthers in focus.

I like the composition Katja. Better focus of center part could result in considerable improvement. Nicely done.

I like the nice symmetry here, and the green bg works very well. The focus doesnt bother me too much. The 'V' is a bit subtle, but its there. :wavey:
