Endurance

It‘s amazing how some plants like this white cedar can take root in the smallest bit of soil and cling to life on a rock in the middle of a raging torrent. Boquet River in the Adirondacks last week at zero degrees F.
I chose a shutter speed to show the motion of the water but preserve enough detial to avoid making it look like fog.

The tonality is excellent throughout and the texture in the water is FABULOUS! I expect it may have been a bit slippery and dangerous around there, but did you happen to get anything closer or just of the water? That would be a very cool water abstract.
The tonality, texture and detail in the snow covered tree is also excellent and does tell a great nature story. I'm less excited about the snow covered rock, but combined with the other elements, this all works together nicely. It's the water that I'm really drawn to though.

LON -- That's as close as I got, and I only brought one lens on this little trip. (Tying out my new 17-70, and shot this at 70mm.) The banks were steep and we had no ropes with us. My hiking partner went downstream to try the shore ice and quickly sunk in up to his shins. Unfortunately, I rarely think of shooting just water. Got to shift my brain into a new gear to to that, I guess.
Really a strong image. Well done
