Palm Warbler (Dendroica palmarum) This bird was identified thanks to the efforts of many of you in the Bird Photography Forum [see http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/bbs.cgi?a=vm&mr=50915&CGISESSID=f7f4acb4e640422b8a7e514a50375c9d&u=7267]
as being the western race of the Palm Warbler. The image was captured just before Christmas in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. I do have other images of this bird but this is my favorite because of the perch and the wind effect on the feathers. So, it is the one I would appreciate your image assessments on. (Next time I’ll use a different image for the forum ID help to preserve some novelty! However, here at least you do have the large version to examine and the techs. I do so value your opinions on my images.)

EOS 7D, EF 100-400mm: ISO 250, 1/1000 s, f/8.0, 400mm. Image is 3841 x 2560 pixels (=9.8 MP or 55% of the 18 MP of the 7D).

Steve, the curved perch really makes this one for me. I really like your comp on this one.

Nice shot Steve, good pose and perch. Could be a touch brighter overall.

Steve

I like the ruffled feathers and how the branch curves through the frame.

I like this comp, but I also think it would make a strong vertical comp.

I think the image could go a bit brighter, but I also like how well the bird stands out from the sky.

Nicely done.
