Abandoned Northern Elephant Seal Pup, San Simeon California.

Not sure I'd call this my best 2009 photo but it is one with great meaning to me. This shot actually started off my 2009 photography year. I travelled to California for a photo week with a very dear friend who specializes in portrait photography. I wanted to share the raw emotion that can be captured shooting wildlife. This little guy was without a mother and was making every attempt to get our attention. While the beach was packed with elephant seals, he was one that stood alone, isolated. A memorable and emotional trip with a friend.

Olympus E-510 with 50-200mm lens.
Focal length: 200 mm
Aperature: f/4.5
Shutter Speed: 1/100 sec
ISO: 200
1/23/2009 @ 12:54 pm

Basic adjustments: slight crop, curves adjustment, and sharpening
