Juvenile eagle

This image was taken this summer. This juvenile eagle flew right over my head looking for some leftover fish along the coast in Port Edward, BC, Canada. I was lucky enough that she looked down and the light just touched her head and right claw.

Here is another go at resizing the image. I hope this is better than my last post and hopefully I'll get it right soon. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Congrats on getting this juv BE. They are seen infrequently in these parts and never this close. With such a low ISO, I think you'll be able to tease some more detail out of those dark areas. When you say 75% cropped, do you mean that it's 25% of the original image, or 75% of the original? It looks like it could use some more room all the way around.

Luke,
Sorry, the photo is 75% of the original. I appreciate your comment about the room. I have no more room on the right side (left wing), but I could increase the amount of room in front of it. I personally like the images a bit dark, but you are right it losses detail. (I'll give it a go and see how it looks) Thanks for your comments...

Nice work getting the light on the bird's head and talon. I would work on pulling out more detail in the dark areas, juvenile eagles have such marvelous detail in their plumage it is a shame we can not see that here. Using some EV compensation may have helped in camera when photographing this.

You did great on the size images posted, the large version shows nice sharpness on the head and bill.

Jose, Perfect timing to get that downward look from the eagle. I like the scalloped effect of the trailing edges of the wings and the nice blue sky. I would prefer a bit more room in front of the bird especially and a little more detail in the darks.

I really like that head turn that gives you a nice look at the eye. More room in front would be nice. I too like my images darker than most but I do think you could get more details in the feathers with this lightened just a tiny bit.
