In the beech forest
by Ant
This is my first post in the NPN forum/galleries, as a new NPN member. The picture was taken about two months ago, in the old Palanfrè beech forest in the western Italian Alps, not far from the border with France. Evening was approaching and the woods were glowing with the cold blue tones of the beech trunks. Gears: Nikon D3, 24/3.5 PC-E shifted and tilted, tripod, remote cable, ISO 200, f/11, 1/6 sec.
Comments and Critiques welcome.
Thanks for looking.

11 commentsThank you all for the comments and the warm welcome ! And I fully agree, the bright sky is a weak point... Maybe a more careful postproduction could help alleviating its impact... will try.
I almost missed this one and am certainly glad I found this! Welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery, what a terrific first post.
This is great simply because of the somewhat unique view and perspective. This is a bit chaotic, but works very well because of that perspective. I'm glad you called out the blues - I understand and see these blues often in these conditions. But if it were mine (and it's not,) I might pull back on the blue slightly; a matter of personal taste though.
Good eye and a well crafted image. We look forward to more images and for your participation in the forum and galleries.

Nice, unusual perspective on an appealing scene. Welcome to NPN!

thanks for the further comments! And yes, I got carried away by the blues a bit...
