Editor's Weekly Pick Award: Weekly Challenge #412 (12/20/09 - 01/02/10)

Stan’s idea for the final weekly challenge of 2009 really made me think. I was considering posting one of this year’s nature images that are now on my wall. But the type of picture posted here is really what 2009 was about for me, even if I did not post them here. (Well there is one in my gallery in EPJ) Looking back on this year’s images, it’s apparent that I shot about 20 pictures of my grandchildren for every “nature-only” shot. My priorities have changed over the past year, and I am happy with that, even if it means I didn’t post as much on NPN as I thought I would. Since much of my time with the kids is introducing them to the wonders of Nature, I’ll guess I’ll just have to see if some of my kidpix fit into the Man and Nature gallery in 2010.

Happy Holidays and Wishes for a Wonderful New Year to all my friends at NPN!

That's terrific, Wayne! Your priorities are in the right place. Ill be selfish and hope that you post lots of 'nature-only' stuff next year too. Best wishes to you too, Wayne! :toast:

Beautiful thoughts and image Wayne... I can smell the leaves and the woods from here, and hear the kids giggling as they go... great!

Your image brings back childhood memories for me Wayne.
It reminds of the excitement I felt as a child exploring the woods. The smell of the woods, the sights & sounds..And the dream seemed to be always running slightly ahead of me..
Except for those times when I would catch up, and live for a moment in harmony with it.
That was the wonder
Merry Christmas :wavey:

Wayne: Amen to your photographic direction. I envy you the opportunities. My grandchildren are pretty far away from us and I don't get near the chances to be with them as much as I'd like. This is just a terrific capture artistically and sentimentally. Many kudos. >=))>

I love the interaction of the two children and the sense of wonderful expectation this image evokes.

Congrats, on the EP, Wayne.
Sounds like you have your ducks in a row with the grand kids. More power to you on this venture of helping them appreciate nature. I'm sure you'll get some nature only shots off as well.

Congratulations on your EP Wayne. You definitely have your priorities straight. It's always great to see the inclusion and love of family and friends intertwined with our hobbies and passions. Seems to make those hobbies and passions just a bit sweeter.
