I was on the Lammermuir Hill's in the Scottish Borders, UK this morning after a moderate fall of snow over night. I was looking for the Red Grouse, it was quite cold (-4°C).

The grouse was quite close and puffed up trying to get warm.

Nice on Ron! Seems you had the same conditions we had up North - hope it lasts!

Ron ...it sure is cold ..and love the color against the snow ..was there a possibility of showing more of the snow in the right ..?

I really like how the bird is really puffed up and the falling snow. My only wish is that there were more room around the bird to show the snowy environment, especially to the right.

I agree it needs more on the right, I was hiding from the birds and this one came and sat right in front of me, the picture is full frame, so there isn't any more snow in it unfortunately

Ron, nice capture of an interesting looking bird. Looks like he has his feather coat on.

I really like how 'cold' this image feels.

Really nice shot of a really goofy looking bird. Given the conditions and the bird's movements, you did a good job of getting a sharp focus on the head and wing feathers. Nice colors, too.
