This photo was taken in Sept of this year. It is one of my favorites. I like the wing motion in this photograph. Please take a moment and reply back with any C & C's.
I have also posted a larger version. I always enjoying hearing back from all of you!
Canon 50d, Hand Held, Shutter speed at 1/800sec.,Focal Length at 400mm, F/5.6, and ISO 640.

You also seem to have the knack of being where you should at the right time.
This shot is excellent and I agree with you on the wings the movement just makes this even more special And the BG making the bird pop out  :wavey:

What species? Taken where?

Although I like the wing blur, the image lacks critical sharpness overall. And judging by the look of the breast feathers it isn't an issue of not enough USM as I se the texture on the side of breast is already showing the effects of over-sharpening.

Thank you for your comment Avi!
Richard, this is a young Ruby Throat taken in my backyard right on the outskirts of Savannah, GA. Thank you also in your comment. When I look closer at the photo I can see a bit of over sharpening also. I did not notice it till you mentioned it. Thank you for the time to leave your comment. They always help!

While , too, like the wing motion. In this image the hummer's left wing blur is detracting from the head.

Carlette, The wing blur works for me too and I don't mind the wing behind the head - it's too OOF to be an issue for me. I like the pistil on the forehead effect. Agree that the overall image could be sharper.

Carlette,

I don't mind the motion blur of the wing behind the head, I think it adds a slight feeling of depth in the portion of the image.

The sharpness issue has been mentioned already, perhaps trying this type of shot on a tripod would help for future shots?

I like your choice of composition, though I would have been tempted to crop a smidge more off the bottom than you did so the bird would be less centered top to bottom.
