This mother fox made a den and had three kits down a short embankment next to a main road in Jackson Hole. It was great viewing and photographing as she prowled the grassy meadow in search of pocket squirrels for the kits.

I would love to see this sometime. I really like the intent look on her face. Nice eyes. Good detail in the fur on her back. Did you get any images with the kits?

I have lots of images of her with kits and some with kits playing by themselves while mom is out looking for food. I promise to post more ASAP. Although these foxes were close, photogenic and in a photographically optimal environment, it was a challenge to compose good images because they moved so fast. It was quite a sport that lasted off and on for about a week, giving me plenty of practice with quick wildlife.

Good shot of mom fox, Roger. I would love to see a larger shot and also your camera settings.

Very "fox-like" expression, I think she's pretending she doesn't see you but is well aware - pretty "sly". You were fortunate here to be able to have both eyes unobstructed by the fairly dense grass. The grass is quite vivid, I might be tempted to tone down the saturation and brightness a little. I never know myself if changes like that will work until I actually give it a try and then evaluate on the monitor.

I quite like this Roger. The 'sly' pose and look on that fox's face and the way you have framed her in between that lush green grass. I agree with Gary that the image overall looks a bit too bright and toning it down will certainly make it even stronger.

She is giving you a nice look. I,too, find the greens of summer grass can seem really saturated even when shot with neutral settings. Perhaps a slight de-saturation and reduce the brightness a touch? I am very jealous if she gave you multiple relaxed days of shooting near the den!
