Brown Bear Playtime
by Jim Streeter
I took this photo at the Capt. Cook State Park in Alaska. This yearly brown bear was playing with a discarded antifreeze container. She and her brother will probably be moved from the park because they were getting into the campground and stealing kids toys. The photo was taken with a Nikon D300, ISO 320, 1/400 sec. set at F10. The lens was a Tamron 200-500 set at 500mm.

5 commentsAs for the photo itself, the only problem is the OOF vegetation - but that's a minor issue when you have a scene like this.
But antifreeze is highly poisonous, tastes "sweet" to mammals, and leads to a nasty, slow death in even small amounts. The traces that are probably in the jug could easily kill the cub...
Congrats on the EP!
