Bass Rock

Bass Rock is a large rock island in the Firth of Forth Estuary in Scotland UK. It holds 80,000 breeding pairs if gannets during the breeding season. It hosts a lighthouse which is automated these days. Its an enigmatic place, there is an old church on the rock and ships pass day and night.

I like this image, the letterbox format, the ship on the left balancing out the lighthouse on the right of the rock

I agree Ron I think the letterbox format works well here. The island with the church is quite interesting even by itself if you were able to get close enough but it's balanced nicely here with the (ship?) on the left. I cant tell if it's just me, an illusion or if the horizon line is a bit off. It looks like it drops a little to the left.
Awsome photo in all Ron and the clouds and rough water are great elements that make it look very chilly. :toast:

Very good composition, with all elements balancing and completing each other.
The clouds are a plus.
