Leaving the Nest

2-3mm Green Lynx spider @ 2 weeks. The substrate is a metal flower hanger I attached to the flower stalk/nest to minimize air movement.
I observed them one by one raising their abdomens, and shooting strands of silk into the air..Then they would let go and drift off on the breeze into space. I watched one in particular as it floated up and over a nearby fence.
I was able to follow it with my eye because it was mid-afternoon, and the sun lit up the silk strand that carried it.
You had to be there :)
