Poppies

I don't normally take pictures of flowers, but I do like the poppies when they come out during the summer months. I played with depth of field with these pictures and finished up using my 300mm lens because of the f2.8 setting giving me a very shallow depth of field and a fast shutter speed to combat the breeze.

The picture were take near my house in the Scottish Borders in the UK

Canon 40D Canon 300mm f2.8lens, f2.8, 1/6400sec ISO 320

Ron: I like this comp and selective use of DOF. This is almost like a cram; you could also try focusing on blooms in the middle of the field and get a blurred foreground and background. Nice as it is too. :toast:

Wonderful comp Ron, I like the DOF alot. I might be tempted to crop this just a bit from th eright side to get rid of the one OOF flower on the right. Nice Job!!
