Cotton and Cottonwoods

by Larry Fischer

This is a photo of Cottonwood seeds floating on water. The source of the seeds are the pods of the trees who's trunks are present in the reflection as well as on dry land.

Still doesn't get stiller than this.

Taken in NE Kansas.

D300, Nikkor 18-200 VR at f/6.3 and 55mm (82 FX equiv), 1/160 sec., ISO 400, 30 percent vertical crop.

You're right, "still doesn't get stiller than this". Looks like a great place to get away from it all.

Interesting shot, Larry! I think its even stronger with a tighter crop from top & bottom. Good entry.

I'd tend to agree with Stan that a crop would make this a stronger composition. But I would probably crop just the top, about 20% or so, to eliminate most of the sky visible through the trees.
