Black and green...

In one of the places we stayed in Costa Rica we saw these little black and green poison dart frogs (Dendrobatus auratus) jumping everywhere. Especially after a shower they showed themselves frequently. I loved the diversity in patterns in the green and black.

Hi Ellen: Very unusual frog. Looks like it is just about to take a jump. Did you manage to get one in the air? Looks pretty small. Nice DOF. :toast:

Nice low perspective. The patterns of the frog against the background is wonderful.
Outstanding image IMO.

Must have been fun photographing such vividly marked subjects. The whites on the top of the head and beneath the eye look a little bright on my monitor, but I haven't recalibrated recently. Neat capture.

Hello Ellen.

Thats one great looking frog that I have not seen before. Composition and detail also very nice.

The one nit for me would be to clone out the bright bit of OOF moss just behind the frog as it catchs the eye a little.

Well seen and captured, Ellen. I love these tiny little frogs and agree with you on the wild patterns seen in this species. Almost like fingerprints in that no two are exactly alike. :toast:
