Taken last summer at an ostrich farm on Washington Island, off the coast of Door County, Wisconsin. Gotta love the expression ;)

I agree this is about expression and that somewhat shocking red board. I think this deserves a clever/funny caption or thought balloon! The extreme close-up invites study and I was half expecting to see the photographer reflected in that eye.

Hi Kathy,

Some very powerful colour here! I really like those strong colours and how you've split the frame with them. If the image were mine I'd be tempted to shift the head slightly to the right (i.e., open up a little more room on the left). It looks like the tip of the beak and the eye are just outside your zone of sharpest focus - not sure what you shot this at (aperture-wise) but perhaps stopping down just a tad more (one to two stops) - if it was possible - might have solved that minor problem...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this - and I agree that this is great expression!

Very funny picture Kathy. Great colors and use of the red fence, lets the viewer read a number of emotions and thoughts into the Ostrich's expression and predicament. I agree that the eye looks a tad out of focus but still a very nice shot. Thanks for sharing.

What a cute expression and the red really sets it off.
