I have finally managed to get the male NOHA in flight! This is from that morning with the SEOW. I have to say the 5D2 was able to track this (& the SEOW) very well.

5D2, 500mm + 1.4X, f8, ISO800, morning light, tripod

Thanks for looking. Comments, etc., please.

KC, super shot of this male harrier. Great light and nice eye contact. The detail looks stellar. There is no doubt the image quality from the 5DMkII is awesome. What was your SS for this shot?

Oops - 1/5000! I keep the ISO at 800 as my default.

Beautiful, KC. I really like the angle on this one and the way it accentuates the eye contact. Can you tell us what settings you used on the autofocus? :toast:

Centre-point AI Servo, Dennis. I had it on its head most of the time.

Awesome shot and congrats. I've only seen a male once, and the pics came out terribly, so I understand your excitement. The look in the eyes and the almost head on view are really sweet

The eye stands out so well, at first I thought it was an owl shot. The gray of the bird really stands out against the dark blue sky.

Excellent KC. Sharp and it looks like you got excellent detail on the torso which isn't easy to do. Perfect comp for my tastes. It's always a rush to get the male in flight, esp when it's this nice. Big congrats on getting your first in flight male!!!
