Where Green Ferns Grow

Wall of maiden hair fern in the Virgin River Narrows backlit by the light reflecting off a wall up the canyon. I pulled back the greens a tad because they are so saturated in the original file.

Sean, I like the diagonals working throughout the image. The downward diagonal of the flowing water. The upward diagonals of the ferns which presents two additional diagonals. And then there is the diagonal in the bg rockface. Would like to see a wider view, more waterway. But this presentation makes the viewer feel like they are in the riverbed!

Very nice color and I see three triangles stacked in your comp. Way to work with shapes!

Excellent comp. When the image first came up on the monitor I thought the the greens were way saturated but the longer I looked the more natural they became - I've been to the Narrows so I know who lush it can be. Personally I'd like to see a faster shutter speed to leave more detail in the water but that's personal taste.

A very effective composition Sean - very simple and reduced to essential shapes and areas. Color adds the rest. Super solid work!

A new look for me of the Narrows. Well done, Sean.

Nice one Sean. I like the diagonal lines of the composition and your perspective here.

This is really a neat and unique perspective from the Narrows. Sweet color throughout.

Drat. I sat at this exact spot and admired its beauty. After some careful consideration, I decided that there just wasn't a comp there that would do it justice. Boy was I wrong!!!!
