Sempervivum arachnoideum

Sepervivum arachnoideum, known as cobweb houseleek, is a perennial plant of the genus Sempervivum. Its name arachnoideum refers to its furry central rosettes, resembling spider webs. We found these ones last summer in Gran Paradiso National Park, italian Apls at an altitude of about 2000 meters.

Comments and suggestions more than welcome.

HI D&L: Looks like a very small plant growing on the rocks. Just the right DOF to capture the group. You managed the exposure well for harsh lighting and colors are not washout. Well done.

Great DoF for this stunning macro! I'd prefer to see it cropped more tightly but then I crop a lot!

Interesting shot. A great miniature landscape. I might prefer just a touch more dof to capture the last buds in the back sharply but I like this as posted. Very neat.

Lovely, environmental shot, D & L - a really great find. The textures of the rock add a lot to this, and the flowers are beautifully captured.

Daniel and Loana: This is just excellent. I would have guessed a desert cactus and not a mountain flower. I really like the ground level POV and your DOF choice. Superbly crafted image.>=))>

Nice isolation of your subject, and you handled the harsh light very well.
