Zawadi + repost

I continue to rework some older images that seem to be improving using some tweaks with modern software and techniques. Perhaps even my improved abilities in the digital world? I'm enjoying the trip down this path anyway. This scan has been redone in Lightroom.
This is Zawadi (aka Shadow) again. Hunting hares in a gorge in the Masa Mara. The back lighting left some shadow problems as well as some pretty hot highlights issues that I think I've balanced out. The eyes on this cat continue to mesmerize me.
Hope you enjoy it!

Canon 1N 400 2.8 W/1.4 TC 1/250 f5.6 VELVIA 100, fill flash, window mount ball head. scanned using Fuji PSD 400 psd=85.5 meg

Thanks for looking!
Comments always appreciated.

Neil,
This is a beautiful shot! I agree that the eyes are what makes the image! The back lighting is also great, although it may still be a bit blown out. You did s great job though, considering the tough conditions! Great job!

I have a heck of time with some of my scans as well, especially with any contrast!!

You sure caught him with that focussed hunter's look Neil! The shadow detail looks excellent, the highlight are quite realististic but still a little on the 'hot' side IMO. The backlighting does bring out those large whiskers very well. Compositionwise I would have preferred the subject a bit more to the left. I am glad you are enjoying the digital path and that the results show. Processing images behind the PC is simply an essential and very important part of modern photography.

Overall I like the light, even with the hot elements mentioned. I bet this would have been nice as a vertical, as well. Thanks for sharing. I agree the eyes are wonderful.
