Taken on overcast day, but the whites still gave me problems. Guessing it is this years bird as the head does look like the other roosters.

Good portrait Jake. The beak is slightly bright, perhaps you could adjust the highlights a little bit. You did a nice job getting detail on the head and breast, good dof.

Jake ..the feathers and eyes have come out well, the BG is bit distracting and cluttered. A clean BG would have done a whole lot of good. Was this taken at f4?

Nice head turn for this portrait Jake. Exposure on the neck ring usually gives me fits too.
