Heart Lake Tapestry +repost

Still going through some images from this fall. This is from a quick day trip over to the high peaks region of the Adirondacks. A thick fog rolled in over Heart Lake just as the light was starting to get good. Instead of the grand landscape I was there to shoot I focused on some long lens comps into the distant shoreline. I didn't up the contrast because I wanted to leave the soft, ethereal mood of the morning. Enjoy

Beautiful color Kurt. I know it's foggy, but I might boost contrast just a bit to remove a little of the flatness.

Thanks for the suggestions. Is this any better? I boosted the mid-tone contrast but wanted to keep the foggy atmosphere.

The re-post is much better. It still has that foggy mood, but much more visual spice. Getting the contrast right on foggy situations like this is always a tricky feat.

The 2nd post is wonderful Kurt. Just enough contrast and still some great fog giving this some great atmosphere.

I love the effects of fog, especially when mixed with the bold autumn colors. I'm glad you chose not to bump up the contrast. It's beautiful in this soft presentation.

Either one looks great in my opinion, Kurt. I guess I'm in the minority, but I actually prefer the lower contrast of the original. :toast: :toast:

I think I like the second one best. The fog is still there, but the colors come through too.

I think the foggy atmosphere is still clearly apparent in the re-post.

Kurt,

Fantastic job of compressing this in to an intimate autumn scene with the long lens. The concentration and variety of color is wonderful as is the fog adding great mood. Personally, I like the little bit of pop in the repost and congrats on maintaining the presence of the fog; you kept the best of both worlds!
