Mirror image of sandhill cranes. This is shot was taken near Monte Vista, Colorado during the sandhill crane migration. (Nikon D100 AF VR 8-400 mm lens hand held). I have not had much luck with bird photography, but i did enjoy the position of the birds. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

Very interesting shot. I think you did a good job to get these positions of their wings.

A wonderful composition, Mike, and beautiful light. The detail looks reasonable at this scale, but you'd have to post the optional 1200 pixel image to really make a decent assessment. Very nice. I'd like to see more.

I also like the position of the two birds and the opposite wing extension. Would like to see a little more detail in the feathers and around the eyes. If you have CS3 you could possibly pull up the details in shadows/highlights, but watch for white rim lighting if you use it.

Welcome Mike, I like the alternating wing positions here. As mentioned I'd like to see it larger and it's helpful if you post your techs (shutter speed, f-stop, iso ) to help us give you more complete critiques.
