I had only had a DSLR for about four month when I went to the GSMNP for vacation. I found this scene along the roaring fork motor trail. I had to set my tripod on the bridge over the river to get this comp. My wife would tell me when a car was coming so I could move before I got ran over.
I used a bit of a soft effect and selective dodging and burning to enhance the look of the photo.

Nikon D80 w/18-135 f/3.5-5.6 Kit lens at 31mm
1.3sec. f/16 ISO100
Tripod. Wireless remote.

Thanks for looking.

Your processing is quite effective, and enhances the mood. I'd suggest cloning out the ... rock (?) ... in the extreme LLHC.

NIce! Great scene and comp. If you dodged the water highlites, i think i might have left them undodged since theyre fairly bright as is.

Interesting study in greens and whites.Good texture. Good depth. The lighter colored area in the upper left could possibly add if lightened a bit. Just a thought. That area, being the photographic source of the stream could exude the concept of "power" by being brightened.
But, another may say not.

Unusual capture and I like it.

There is a nice peaceful mood in this shot, Joel, which I especially like. I like the varied tones of greens too.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. :wavey:

Jim - The object in the extreme LLHC is the bridge I was sitting on, after trying to crop it out and perhaps clone it out, I had decided to leave it. I had hoped no one would notice. You've got good eyes, thanks for the suggestion. I may just try to remove it.

With all the fine details you captured, I'll bet this looks great as a big print. I love all the greens. It's very fresh and vibrant.

The only nit I have is the rock or whatever in the LLC. It breaks up the flow of the water. Nice work.
