I love the lines, textures and colors of sandstone. I find that when I'm in the desert I get so caught up in the details that I forget to look at the bigger picture, the very opposite of what happens to me in the mountains. I'm rather intuitive (not well linked into reality ) and so this image speaks to me of the many divisions in our world. It is interesting to see these two colors of sandstone sharply divided from each other. Then there appears to be a second rift between the top and the bottom which crosses the color boundary. Finally, there is a deep crack which runs from top to bottom which equally affects both groups. It reminds me of the way we isolate ourselves into groups of "us" and "them" unaware of the bigger problems that affect us all. Ok enough of that. Back to reality.

Erik,

I like this. It is very simple and graphic and the interpretation is spot on. The bigger picture - its all sandstone...

Nice abstract Erik this work well for me. The two broken lines really make this a well seen comp. It was great to meet you in Zion as well!

Erik this is really really nice. It's so simple, yet so interesting. Usually simple abstracts like this don't interest me on a mental level; this one does.

What Jack said.
I sure like the two different layers of sandstone, and especially the fractured and offset horizontal and vertical lines. You did a fine job in seeing this composition out there in the vast sea of sandstone.

No nits from me, Eric. There is a level of complexity here that goes deeper than the initial impression. Was this taken the day we about crossed paths?

Nice image Erik and a good story to go with it. I think the crack makes the image imo. It adds that little bit of interest thats put it over the top.

This is a superb abstract, Erik, very well-balanced and composed. Im really impressed. Of course, I have one that looks practically identical to this (except its about 1000 pixels wider) but since you posted first i just wont bother with mine  :jump:

Very well seen. The colors are fantastic. I bet you can see every little grain in a print.

Wow, you got a lot out of this rock...in more ways than one. The photograph is laden with attractive graphic qualities, but I wonder at the effect of a slightly darker (globally) version.
