Send in the Clouds 1

Was just driving thru the hilly countryside in NEPA the other day and was struck by how the nice big puffy white clouds and the sun were creating different patterns of color as the light changed. So I just quickly stopped and snapped off a few shots. This one is the first of two I'll post, the differences will be obvious once you see the other one. I like the black, blue, white combination in this one, and after some debate, left the horizon line in the distance for a frame of reference. Shot with H2 at ISO-100, 1/2000th, f7.1, just slight color and contrast enhancement. Thanks for looking and another version to come in a couple days...

Nice one Bill. I agree with the decision to include the horizon.

I like this concept of the clouds creating an almost abstract pattern-scape. The strong contrast makes the presentation feel harsh, but it is tough light for a camera to handle.

Thanks for commenting Tony. See, I like the contrasting colors in this one! But I also like the 2nd one I'm going to post that is sans the real dark areas... a matter of taste. And while this has not gotten many views on here (surprise!), I am personally quite happy with the set and will be exhibiting.

Hi Bill,

This is an interesting shot! I also really like the blue, black and white colour scheme. And I appreciate the horizon being included--there is a great 3-D feel to this image. Love the cloud patterns.
