Ocean Simplicity

I wanted to get an original take on this truly incredible gem of the Cornish coast, Porth Nanven, made famous by photographer Andrew Nadolski’s breathtaking book 'The End of the Land'. After much exploring, I eventually found a minimalistic composition with foreground pebbles that mirrored the Brisons rocks at sea. 2 stop hard grad over sky, 3 stop soft grad over sea. 25 seconds, f18 ISO 100, 24-70mm lens 5Dmk2. Increased saturation later.

Simple, clean, nice transition from cool to warm colors, good composition with the repeating patterns. Wonderful photograph. :toast:

Wow this is spectacular; the natural color really is intriguing. I enjoy the simplicity of this image, and the 'smooth' feel it has to it. Great work!

Breathtaking image! I was in Corwall recently - a beautiful coast indeed. Colours here are sublime and the water treatment is excellent.

the simple comp really works here, and the dark bottom seems to make the nearly centered fg rocks work as well :toast:

The unusual amount of space at the bottom of the photograph provides some unexpected tension in an otherwise understated and simple composition. Very beautiful.

A gorgeous shot, Matthew. The color is just beautiful. I really like your framing choice, but it's the gradations of color that move me through the image. Beautiful work!
