Sony A700
Minolta 100mm macro
ISO 200, 1/30 @ f11, CPL

With a little cooler weather our Star of Texas hibiscus don't open until midday. Tried to make the best of the bright light by shooting it backlit and used a polarizer to stunt the reflected highlights. All comments welcome.>=))>

I really like this Bill, Good job getting the detail on the bright areas of the flower. I really like the comp. though, with the whole flower and the great greens in the leaves. :toast:

Great comp Bill and excellent detail. I think the polarizer served you well. Although, given the nature of the light I think this might work well as a conversion also. Certainly not better but maybe as well.

I'm severely challenged when it comes to B&W conversions but thought I would try my hand after Pat made the suggestion. I did leave a tiny bit of color by overlaying a channel mixer layer and setting its opacity at 85%. Suggestions and advice always appreciated. >=))>

I like the lighting against that dark background. Excellent dof and comp.

Bill, both are excellent. Either image stands on its own merits very well.

Nicely handled strong lighting. I prefer the colored version (just a personal preference) while the B&W looks more like a IR rendition to me.

I really like the orginal color version, Bill. I like how you've taken the flower and "stretched" it across the frame reaching to the other side. Nicely crafted and I think the highlights are minimal.

I'm for the original, it really stands out against the black BG. Beautiful work Bill.
