Here's a shot from this morning. This Wigeon was calling for his mate. Full Frame, no crop.
The green in the background is from a cottonwood tree reflecting in the water.

Canon 50D
500mm f/4 with 1.4x TC
1/4000 @ f/5.6
ISO 400
Handheld

No Flash

Thanks to Ron I corrected my spelling... I had Widgeon instead of Wigeon.... Thx Ron

Keith, just super detail in this wigeon. Awesome light and a great open bill pose. I love the BG. Well done.

Lovely portrait, well exposed and sharp. Quacking is a bonus.

Love the clarity in this one Keith. The open bill adds a bit of happy expression. I like the green band in the water, it works with that stunning green flash on the duck's head. This species is just beautiful! I think most of us have made the "d" in Wigeon error, I know I did.

Love the open bill, the green color behind the eye, intricate feather patters and light in the eye.

A fine image as posted.

Awesome shot. Handheld too. I must find some light where I can go to 1/4000 @ f/5.6. It would be very nice if a Wigeon were there. :toast:
