These little guys are the most fun! While hiking in Yoho National Park in British Columbia I noticed this pika gathering up plants and grasses. I sat and watched for quite some time and noticed that the pika would follow the same route over and over, so I just waited for it to dissappear from sight and crept closer and closer and then waited for it to show up at this paticular spot with my camera on the rocks. It didn't seem to mind that I was there and returned a few more times after I got this image.

So cute! I loved seeing these little guys when I was in Colorado, and I know that they are generally pretty skittish. I love this pose with the mouth full of carefully chosen food. For some reason I want to see this in a vertical?

DOF is great, nice detail from the tip of the red stalk to the tip of its ears.
The lower right hand corner is a little distracting. The diffence of focus, I guess. My eye isn't expecting to have missing detail there.

Overall, wish I was hiking there. I've sailed up Princess Louisa Inlet. Closest I've gotten to fiords.

Collin,
This little fella is absolutely adorable. Great capture of the pika's behavior, look and environment. I love the feet and the mouth full of food.
I'm heading out to Colorado in a few weeks and hope to catch on of these guys storing up for winter. I'll be happy if I get anything half as good as this! Great clarity, color and pose!
Congrats!

This is a terrific photograph Collin. I love the overall detail and activity of the pika. Definately one to be proud of.
