Beaver pond
by William Vrolyk
I was glad to be able to get out on Sunday to do some photographing around Whitemud Park which lies within our city. It is nice to know that one does not have to leave town for nature photography. The beavers had created a dam across the creek and the water backed up behind it. The dam was a new discovery and it made me marvel at the energy and ingenuity of the beaver. We would be hard pressed to imitate it.
It is finding things like that and the sheer enjoyment of experiencing the natural world around me with all its sights, sounds, and smells. And it was a cool cloudy day; what could be better for an afternoon of nature photography in autumn?
I enjoy sharing my photographs with others to show them that there is a beautiful world out there to be treasured and preserved. I believe that mankind is every bit a part of the natural world as the many creatures that live there. That is why we are drawn to nature; why else do millions seek out our Parks?
As with any hobby the enjoyment and satisfaction comes from the doing and a work that is well done. Nature photography is no different but we enjoy the beautiful world around us in the process.
Thanks for looking and commenting on my photo.

Perfectly said Will. Nice mix of colors here!
Nice shot of the work product of those busy beavers. I wish I had half their energy! I like the mixes of greens, oranges & yellows.
