I took this last week, still trying to adjust to this area, but I think I'm starting develop a style for up here!

I took this at Three Island Lake right after the sun had set. I was waist deep in water when I took this, and the hardest part was not producing any ripples that would've disrupted the lily pads and grasses.

Comments and critiques appreciated!

Everything works in this Ben - the motion, the vertical lines, the lily pads, and the rich blues. Love it!

Hockey town, you move to MN?
I have a special place in my heart for Minnesota used to go to the boundary waters yearly. This is neat Benjamin. I love the cool of the night setting in. Very poetic as the reeds move slightly and the lilies are great

Anthony,

I was actually born and raised in Minnesota, I just moved to Bemidji to go to Bemidji State.

Just an excellent comp. This is very reminiscent to me of Brandenburg's work. And that would be a huge compliment.

Benjamin...I really like this and you were very successful at this whereas I was not with a very similar comp in a lake with reeds and lily pads well after sunset. the difference is that your lily pag is sharp even though the reeds convey the movement of the evening breeze. I like the overall dark colors...consistent with that time of night... well done.

This is just sublime! I love those rich blues and the expansive composition, while still maintaining an intimate view of the lily pads in the foreground. Excellent in every way.

I really like the dark mood and impressionistic feel of this Ben - I agree that there are some parallels to Jim's work, but it's certainly all your own. Keep getting out there!

Very well balanced composition, and good use of long exposure to achieve the dynamic in the sky and grasses in FG. The reflected clouds and sunset light really gives it a special touch.

I'm always tron between liking or disliking wind blown motion blur. I think it works pretty well here. I really like the comp overall, and the cool blues.
