Here's another high speed flash hummer photo from Ecuador. This was very tight on the bottom and right so I added a little canvas to both. It may still be tight for some people's taste but I wanted to show off the detail particularly in the tail.

MkIII 500F4 1/250 F20 iso 500, 580ex, 3 slave flashes set at 1/8

Just when I was starting to get bored with hummerpix..wow, this is electric. The head doesn't look pin sharp but it only seems a tad off. Supershot Nate.

Not a huge fan of these types of shots but an amazing effort nevertheless - I imagine the low light doesn't give you much option. Fantastic detail and spread in the tail. Agree with Jorne - not too tight

cheers

I agree with all the superlatives here Nate - it really is a special shot, esp with that wonderful tail and overall posture as presented to the viewer. Gotta admit though, that my eye (for what that's worth) does want a bit more space at the bottom of the frame.

This is a great impact shot Nate which i think would be lost if it didn't fill the frame. Your flash technique has worked very well to freeze the movement of the bird at that shuitter speed. I envy people who have images of these birds as i never see them but it is becoming more difficult to get a different type of shot but you have achieved this here, well done. Graham
