Robert.. I can't tell what this is... without a caption the image should be able to tell a story all on its own. Is it an abandoned lobster pot or some kind of trap?

Sorry Reed, I'm new to NPN but should no better. It is an abandoned lobster trap shot at sunrise on an otherwise beautiful beach. I was also reminded about a similar omission in Photo Art called
Summer Dreams, taken same day and beach, despite being attacked by mosquitos.

Bob, I like the soft light and the tattered and slimy look of the trap. Thanks for providing more written detail, as well. I think a wide-angle shot with the trap in the foreground and the rest of the beach/landscape/sea/sky would better put the trap in the context of its environment -- a gross piece of abandoned litter amid the paradise of the scene, if you will.

Well, I certainly don't want to put my beach towel there... a fine image of an unfortunately all to common occurrence.
