A beautiful photo, Sandy, and excellent entry. It is very difficult to make out against a white background, however. IMO, it would look much better with a different color background.

I'm not sure if the background is snow but it is a very interesting shot.

Beautiful composition Sandy, I like the isolation of the tree and the tone of the sky, well done!

Border added.
Yes, it's snow, and 10 below zero! Batteries lasted about 10 minutes.
Taken in the winter and pulled up for this Weekly Challenge.

Very nice composition here Sandy. The contrast of the stark white snow and the dark tree are great!
I did like the dark border better, but that's just my opinion, and I'm not the artist

Excellent in all its simplicity. Love the tree against the snow, and the barely visible rolling hills.

If we created a visual dictionary, this could be the visual definition of bleak, desolate, or stark. It's surprising how so few local changes in intensity can be so evocative.

I really like this, Sandy. It not only satisfies the weekly challenge but also
has a neat minimalist quality about it.

Beautiful image, such a lovely quietness to this piece. The lone tree is just wonderfully positioned!
