Suffering

That's me, being attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes - inside each of the green circles you can find a mozzie, and yes, I'm wearing 100% deet. The fact that you can actually see that many mosquitoes in a photo is just scary... it was scary... I thought they would get into my shutter box when changing lenses! And yes, I had a few with dinner. I guess I can laugh about it now  Oh the suffering we go through for our art.

Come to Miami, our mosquitoes love fresh blood. When we got out of the swamp one of the guys probably had that many on his leg alone. Yeah it makes for a good picture though.

Haha, nice shot. Remember how frustrated I was in the Alabama Hills?--I can't imagine how crazy I would go with this many skeeters.

Ha! You should have circled the big welt on your neck too
I thought i could escape those bastards by heading into the Sand Dunes, but nooo, they even swarm in the sand. The one animal i would shed no tears over if it went extinct!

Wow! now that's a bummer! And I thought I was the only one who attracted the little vampires that much! sometimes when out in the woods photographing dragonflies, I feel that I am almost a quart low on blood leaving  I don't ever think I have had any for dinner though.

Glad you can laugh about it now

Cheers

I guess we in the northeast sent all the mosquitoes your way this year (usually it is really bad out here, especially in Maine)! Looks bad Floris. My youngest son spent 2 weeks in the Northern Cascades WA and he was eaten alive too!

Hi Floris!

A few years ago, Dan Baumbach and I were using 4x5's at Mack Lake. It was high summer. It's really disconcerting to be under the dark cloth on a warm summer day with mozzies using the ground glass for a staging area.

It was one of those aethetically pleasing moments of LF photography!

No pain, No gain :)
You seem to be making good fun of it, and having the mozzies in your supper is the ultimate sacrifice..
For the love of art! :toast:
