This image of Mt Rainier was taken last summer in August 2008.

Canon 40D
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L at 30mm
ISO100 1/10sec f/22
Singh Ray Warming Polarizer Color Enhancing Combo

Below is a image I took in 1982 at approximately the same location. Notice the recession of the glacier in my 2008 version. The glacier toe is visible at the bottom of the frame, a little to the right of center, whereas in the 1982 version the toe is out of the frame. I know many of you will consider this just a "postcard" shot, but the reason I posted these images is to show this change over time. I wonder what this place will look like 26 years from now?

Mamiya 645

I also posted this in the ESS gallery. All C&C welcome and thanks for looking.

An interesting comparison, Eva. One huge regret for me is that i moved to Seattle after the famous 'Ice Caves' collapsed, wish i had gotten to see them.

Eva, glad you got the wp! That prompted a look, well worth it. I have watched this mtn since 1978 and feel that sense of glaciers in decline. It validating to see shots like this.
