Fly in a Rose

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted July 11, 2009192 views7 comments
Having a drink after a few drops of rain fell.

Manual stack of two images; in the "good photo," the rose petals were sufficiently OOF to be what-is-it distracting, so I blended in the petals from a second.

D300, 70-180 Micro Nikkor @ 180mm, F13, 1/250s, iso 200, diffused flash, monopod.

Comments & critiques welcome, and thanks for looking!

Wow!!! Nice shot! Excellent detail and very good comp. You have taken the most common insect and made it into macro art. :toast:

Pleasing comp Rosemarie, and artfully so..
The fly & its "drinking" drop make for a fascinating macro, stands out well in the frame.
Well done :toast:

Rosemarie,

Sorry I missed this. I happened to see it and then noticed it was yours while I was looking at Kurt's winning avian image. Love this. Reminds me of a pen and ink drawing in Shunryu Suzuki's "Zen Mind, Beginner's MInd" that I've always admired. This really is exceptional IMO - congrats on the EP.
