How fun. Maybe birds of a feather don't flock.... The upper background is a bit distracting from otherwise very clean, smooth water. A tighter crop might give a panoramic feel.

I was conflicted about removing it, but I think you're right.
This is an improvement. thanks!

Holy cow, what a set-up they gave you! And you were there to take full advantage. Really unusual photo, Sandy. I like it very much. Preference for the 2nd shot (repost) without the upper BG, but both are nice. And very patriotic!

This is a great capture! I'm wondering, were you actually thinking red, white and blue when you noticed this scene and took the photograph? I'll bet that just a little ... tweaking ... in PS (especially the blue) would really emphasize the title and this week's theme.

Jim, no, of course not. I'm Not that smart! lol.. This was taken 18 months ago. But I did remember this image when I saw the weekly challenge themes posted awhile ago, and put it on my calendar!.
I don't really like to tweak for "themes" , but only for reality.

Excellent use of something sitting in your "stock" outside of its original purpose! Congrats on the EP.

I am not a birder or a bird photographer. I am not able to keep up with these stunning bird pics. One of these days I will learn how to nitpick. Obviously this is a unique image even for the experts.

Usha, be very careful then!

You may get "hooked' on birds as so many others of us have. Your 200-400 is a perfect lens for birds (along with the 500 mm), so you my be surprised.

I wasn't much into birds , either, until about 2 yrs ago. Now, it's my primary focus - although I'll shoot anything interesting.
Bird shots are the most difficult of all nature photography, imo. SOOOOO many variables to try to work with..
