Winnie,

This is a phenomenal image - light, form, scale... I could go on. Absolutely stunning. Even the teeny pair of desert surviving plants in the sand (or are those people...???) add an element to this image that really makes this image beyond special. WOW! I didn't even feel the need to look at the larger version, but I took a peek.... even more impressive. Spectacular image.

Wow this is the best image I've seen here all week (maybe longer). It has enough mystery to keep my curiosity for quite some time. Really it looks more like a painting than a photograph.

This is lovely! Abstract and surreal, really playing with my eyes, as I can't figure out if this was taken as a close-up or from extreme height (after looking at it longer i am leaning towars the latter  ). Fantastic warm photo with great detail and marvellous composition. Magic indeed!

Winnie, I wish I could add something new or more to what has already been said, but WOW, is all I can come up with. Excellent scene all the way around. :toast:
I too would like to know what the small objects are, and I'm betting it is people. I cannot imagine plants or trees surviving right there.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts and generous encouragement. The response has stunned me somewhat.
Lon: those are desert plants not humans, which provide munchies for the oryx so they can survive in the desert. They are good at extracting moisture from plants.
TK: dunes in this area can reach up to 300m high, but this is one of the lower lying and smaller dunes. I think the lower ones were more interesting for textural detail.

Fascinating photo, Winnie. I really like the overall smoothness, a result of shooting from the air, which constasts so well with the sharply rendered ripples. The main curve is such a strong element and have been expertly placed to work with the rest of the composition.

I missed this the first time around, but, just saw it as Photo of the Month. Definitely a well deserved honour. This is a really stunning photo. The colour simply glows, it is so very rich and deep and the composition is harmonious with the soft curve in the lower left echoing the stronger, crisper line in the upper-right mid-frame.

What a shot. This is a great composition of a great subject in great light. The colors suits the forms, if that makes any sense. The left to right movement into the frame makes this a little different, but I like different things.
