Roaming Roan

The late spring Catawba Rhododendron bloom attracts many visitors (even some with cameras in tow) to the balds of Roan Mtn. Tennessee.
Canon XTI,Tamron 11-18mm. 1/10 sec @ f16
In the larger photo you can see 3 white figures of hikers walking the trail. It's not obvious in the smaller file.

Leann,

I like how the nearest bunch of Rhododendrons points to the far ridge with the way it is isolated by the surrounding greenery. The mist is wonderful and provides a softness to contrast with the great foreground detail. Great colours, too!

My goodness, I would have never found the hikers had you not mentioned them. I would post this in ESS the image is well worth the extra exposure. Nice job, especially the larger image. That looks like Jerry Greer on the trail.

Leann,
Wow this is a very pretty scene and the foreground flowers really make the image. The mist adds some nice atmosphere and depth.

Wow, but that is gorgeous. The Appalachian Trail goes over Roan Mt. I have to do that secton someday and that is the time of year I'd like to do it. It's a great shot. You might want to consider submitting it to the ATC for possible use on their calendar.

I'm laughing at this wonderful photo only because it seems so right to me that the humans in this "Man and Nature" image are so small and insignificant. It just seems so right.

Congratulations for the EP. It's a gorgeous scene.
