I love how these weekly challenges are letting me slowly share some of my favorites from last summer. Begrudgingly I gave in to the tourists, and spent several days in yellowstone last summer. Those few days were the most photographically productive of my whole summer. I don't understand how I see so few artistic representations of the geothermal wonders that are there, it's just a candy store of opportunities! Granted I had some super conditions throughout my time, and every single moment for three days cooperated with my every whim...

This is Grotto Geyser, shot with some ND to catch the action and sparkle. I wish I'd had a bit more room at the top, but this explosion's height caught me by surprise after an hour of smaller bursts.

I agree, its weird how there is no really well-known artist who has focused on the geyser fields. Ive stayed away from Yellowstone for years because i spent a week there as a kid before the '88 fires, and coming back would have just depressed me, but i think its about time i get back there--maybe this fall.
Anyhow, this is a terrific shot of Grotto, i hear you about the top, but thats pretty minor; the light here is great and its very well presented.

The motion in the water is perfect and the background adds a lot as well. Nicely done.

This is rockin' shot Floris! The color treatment and background are well suited to the subject. I agree about your assessment of the tightness on top, but its not a huge deal from my perspective.

Exceptional! One of the best I've ever seen of the geysers. Yellowstone is a dream trip for me... was planning on going this year but alas it's not going to happen.

Very nice catch; the top doesn't bother me at all. Well done.
