Fiddlehead Against Pinkish River Sand

As the title explains, the background is a sand bar along a river. The sandstone (and the sand from stone?)in this area had a pinkish color in some areas. By whatever set of circumstances, this sand bar was obviously pink, others were your classic sand color, and yet others were quite black from bits of coal (this is in southeast Kentucky - coal country).
