Sometimes Nature wins

Illegal logging was and still is a major environmental issue in my country and all across the globe. In 1800, Romania had 8.5 mil ha (21 mil acres) of forests. Now it has aprox. 6.4 mil ha (15.8 mil acres). That means somewhere around 27% of the country area. In the last 19 years it lost more trees than some european countries lost in a century. It's pretty sad to know that only profit sits behind these reckless actions.
I stumbled upon this scene while searching for interesting subjects at sunrise. I was quite happy to see plants growing on the remains of this old tree. I felt a b&w conversion would tell the story better. It's sad, but there's still hope.

This is a very effective photo Dorin, with both for the new vegetation on the decomposing stump and the new grown in the background supporting your point. The composition is superb.

a weekly pick with one comment....
I like this very much!
judging the monoculture of trees behind has me doubting about who is winning, though... :frown:
