The beautiful dress of the gazania

by Giuseppe Guadagno

Gallery: FloraPosted March 18, 2009592 views30 comments
Shot last year in june in the greenhouse near home early in the morning.

Why Giuseppe is posting so few pictures taken with its new D700? (To be continued)

D2X, Nikkor 105 mm. macro - f/19 and ISO 100 - Natural light, BG a bit darkened.

I am always glad to read your thoughts.

Wow did this ever pop at me when I opened it. It looks as much like a painting as a photo. Great subject, very good lighting, and the darkening of the background adds to the effect. Is this a single exposure of an HDR? Either way it is dynamic.

Intensely beautiful light and striking symmetry on a black bg. I'm putting this one in my top ten collection Gigi. Superb. It definitely falls into my mathematical category for favorite images.

The answer to Morris' question is that it's not a HDR. The lower petals were a bit soft so I made a rough selection around them and applied some sharpening.
Thanks to all for your pleasant and stimulating considerations.

Gigi: Just fantastic. I've never seen a gazania this color. We have a bunch of yellow/orange varieties but nothing this red. Marvelous capture. >=))>

Extraordinary, Gigi, even for you ! The flower seems like some some magical icon, fixing the eye. The centre is especially beautiful.
