Walk into November

by Dietrich Gloger

Gallery: Man & NaturePosted November 15, 2008751 views20 comments
Hi everyone, one of my rare M&N-images - I should comment and post more often here, sorry!
Usually there's a gate but it was obscured by the mist anyway and the cloning-tool "obscured" the rest of it.
This was taken last weekend. It was classical November-weather in my local haunt in Vienna.

Comments and feedback always welcome,
Thanks,
Dietrich

I absolutely love this! The detail is perfect and the misty grayness of it is delicious. Just like a scene out of an old Gothic novel.

This feels quiet and somber, almost abandoned. I can stare at it and drift away. A very moving image.

Nice, moody B&W, Dietrich! I especially like the light on the road. The bottom half is much stronger than the top, which is not quite as harmonious, so perhaps id crop some of the top.

Dietrich - it is great to have you over here - it would be great to see more of your images over here as I am continually inspired by your images. Another example of careful thought into an image. The processing really brings out the small details and the light across the path draws the eye into the image. Can not wait to see more of your images !

This is terrific Dietrich....love the tones and mistiness throughout. Has a great feel. I do wish the path were a little more defined, but it's really minor. Terrific shot.

Hey, Buddy! You are really starting to distinguish yourself as one of the upper tier photogs on this forum. This is really very nice.

Love that foreground light, and the fading detail is just marvelous Dietrich.

Thanks for the comments!
Stan, thanks for your thoughts - I never thought about this and I partly agree. Still, I think I will refrain from a crop.

There's a light ethereal feeling about the top I really enjoy so I would not favour a crop. I would work on more detail/contrast in the path. Wonderful work.

Not exactly 'original', but very well done and spooky!

The mood set in this image is excellent. I like the lighting and the path to infinity. Nicely seen, Dietrich.

Oh my gosh! this is gorgeous! The fogs of November... prominent feature of the season's weather here, too, in the PNW. This is just a fantastic representation of the mood. Congrats on the EP!

Hi Dietrich,

Congrats on the EP! It's a superb November image. This could be a scene from a path from somewhere around where I used to live in Ontario. Since a crop was mentioned, I would have to respectfully disagree. There is a vertical dynamic that takes my eye up into the trees where I like how they neatly close together at the top. I also think the vertical space emphasizes the atmosphere. Great b&w conversion, as well.
