Adventure

“The Adventure” was the result of about a year and half of planning - and lots of luck from Mother Nature, Anna’s friends and family. Cannon Beach was selected as the destination of choice because at low tides the sand is hard enough to carry the weight of the wheel chair without the wheels becoming mired in the sand. With a little extra effort we were able to push Anna close enough to the tide line so that she could see and touch the amazing variety of marine life along the shoreline.

On the first day at the beach, I noticed the spectacular cloud formations you see in the photograph. I turned Anna’s wheelchair slightly towards the sun, took a couple of steps back, and took this photograph with a wide angle lens.

All C&C are welcome.

-Jay

Inspiring shot, Very Inspiring.
Who is Anna ?
The shallow beach/shoreline reminds me of Sorobon, Bonaire (Gorgeous and Dreamy, beach is extremely shallow for over a mile out, with colors that rival most)

Matt,

Anna is a very good friend who lives in Italy with her family. She was in a car accident when she was 18. That accident left her in a wheel chair paralyzed from the chest down and unable to use her hands. Her personality combined with a strong determination (stubbornness) and courage enables her to make most out of her situation.

I have gotten to know here through a friend and over last few years and Varina and I have become very close friends with her. At the moment she is recovering from a minor surgery...and extremely bored!!!

Thanks for the comment on the photograph.

I've always enjoyed this shot (it is a few years old...isn't it?), nevertheless...it's beautiful on so many levels.

Jay,

(A late comment because I just got out of the hospital, so I have not seen NPN in a while.) Congrats on the EP. It's much more meaningful when a beautiful image also tells an inspirational story. Having grown up with a close family friend in a wheelchair, and also having another friend now who is a quadriplegic, I know that both stubbornness and good friends are important to people who have to put more effort than most into getting to the most beautiful places. Thanks for showing us beauty more than one way.
