My first attempt shooting fireworks. I accidently got some stuff that looked neat. A bunch of crop to eliminate the dumb old power lines that ran through the middle.
Canon 30D, ISO 125, shutter sprrd .6, f5.6, 83mm.

Wow, very nice! I've never seen fireworks that look like this...it's like lava or something. Can you give some more details about the shot? I can't really figure out where the "ekg"-like lines are coming from...a much larger firework?

The EKG lines were from the first pop, the sparkly things are secondary explosions. I was pretty close and was shooting up at a steep angle. The original shot included more of the burst. after revisiting theoriginal it is probably one of the few that din't have the power lines in it. The spike thing at the bottom is another star shell. The EKG effect is me having to rock back on the rear legs of my tripod to shoot at the steep angle neccessary. Camera shake. I told you it was accidental.

I guess that's what you'd call "rockets red glare" Charlie. Very dynamic shot.

Charlie, this indeed is dramatic and a great addition to WC. My initial reaction is Red is Red is really Red.

As David said, "Rockets Red Glare!"

Charlie, thanks for posting the original frame and the details. Intentional or not, the camera shake sure made for a dramatic image :toast:

When I looked at the thumbnail I too thought it was lava. The camera shake really adds to the shot. My only nit is that you can still see part of the power line in the llc, but it's an easy fix. Congrats on the EP!
